Here at Fabulous Frames & Art in Cincinnati, in addition to custom-framing, we sell a vast selection of prints as well, and we sometimes see common themes in the work of our artists. Today, let's take a look at one of those themes — music — in the prints of Charley Harper, Grant Nelson, and Brett Harper.
The series of three prints above by the late Modernist artist Charley Harper seem to depict the same group of musicians as they perform different pieces of music. Charley was a Cincinnati-based artist and commercial illustrator best known for his geometric depictions of wildlife, so this musical series is quite a departure from his usual work.
Below are two jazz-inspired prints by Grant Nelson, an artist based in Savannah who is well known for his boldly colored and expressive images of nudes.
Cincinnati-based artist Brett Harper is Charley’s son and an artist in his own right, whose work has primarily focused on simple, gestural depictions of flowers. In this particular limited-edition serigraph, he has turned his attention to a collection of musical instruments:
Fabulous Frames & Art is a family-owned custom frame shop and print gallery with five locations in the Cincinnati, Ohio area.
